If you intend to visit Vietnam by airplane, then there is a high chance that you will land on one of the international airports located in three important cities of the country. The three places include Hanoi, Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh City representing for the north, the central and the south area of Vietnam respectively.
The first city we would like to talk about is Hanoi - the capital of Vietnam. Hanoi is a major northern city which has a rough charm via colonial architecture and a slower pace than its southern peer.
While the southern area of the country only has two seasons: wet and dry, the northern part, which includes Hanoi, has all four seasons. Moreover, accessed somewhat close to Hanoi would be compelling tourist attractions such as Sapa and Ha Long Bay.
Nightlife is a missing in Da Nang (though the government is taking actions to change that) and the city is not a bustling metropolis so it is more geared for a laid-back audience. However, many people use it as a jumping off point to go to Hoi An, because Hoi An’s nearest airport and train station are located in Da Nang. Da Nang also has golfing and marble statues (whose industry derives from the nearby tourist attraction, Marble Mountain) if that is your bag.
Lying in the south is Ho Chi Minh (HCM) city which is also known by its former name as Saigon. The city is the strongest economically and most modern in its development, nightlife, and infrastructure. Accessed nearby would be the floating markets of My Tho and Can Tho and Vung Tau beaches. HCM city is also relatively close to Cambodia and its capital Phnom Penh.
